Chris Quality

CQ

Chris Quality was born and raised in the Bay Area of California [Richmond]. Chris has always had a love for music, from the very beginning, but he actually fell in love with the rhyming component first. Anywhere there were rhymes; books, shows, poems, you could find a young Chris devouring the pages. This of course lead to CQ falling in love holistically with music, by way of TV and Radio media, remembering the Purple Rain and Smooth Criminal movies as a kid, young CQ would find his way to that music.. The local Radio was always the soundtrack during his formative years, artists such as MC Hammer, SWV, Naughty by Nature, Snoop Dogg, Silk, and many more were constant companions throughout..

CQ fell in love with all of it. Not to mention some early Gospel influences from Church. All of these sounds eventually blended into a pattern of sonics that Chris began to craft to his own liking. The amalgamation of these sonics can be heard in the Quality Man's sound today, with inspirational songs like "Whatever it Takes," and "Triumphant,' to heavy sonic installments like, "Real One," "One Night" and "Chicago" As well as the Matters of the Heart project benefiting from the blending of all of these sounds.

Growing up in the Bay Area, California, during its 90s run [Mac Mall, E-40 & the Click, Spice 1, etc.], and during the inception of the Hyphy Movement [E-40, Too Short, Keak Da Sneak, Mac Dre], listeners can find hints of these influences in songs like "Aye Lil Mama," and "Mobbin"

But at Quality's core, listeners can hear his appreciation for the art of Hip Hop; the crafty bars, the call backs, multi-layered rhymes, all in the same lines/ verses, or stanzas. Even woven into CQ's impact songs, like 'Plant Based,' he completes the assignment and keeps it bar heavy throughout.

Currently CQ splits time between The Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Notable venues that he's performed in are Refuge; Chicago, IL. Parliament; Oakland, Ca. Venice Beach; Los Angeles, Ca.
